While you can't actually touch it, music can sound as though it might be smooth, prickly, abrasive, fluffy...  This concert will explore different musical textures with works for woodwinds and piano by Connesson, Carter, Debussy, Damase, Kurtág and Scott Wheeler.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 - 7pm
National Opera Center, NYC

This concert will stimulate your ears with the contrasting timbres of the woodwind quintet from the brilliant flute, velvety oboe, mellow clarinet, dark bassoon and metallic horn. Sound Sational features works for woodwind quintet by American composers Samuel Barber, Daniel Ott and John Harrison.  We will also explore how we experience silence in 4'33" by John Cage.
